Recycled Fabrics

Each year in the UK, an estimated £140 million worth of clothing goes into landfill, and most of that clothing hasn’t even reached the end of its life. Our swimwear fabric OPAQUE and HONEYCOMB is made from ECONYL® regenerated nylon, which is recycled from ocean waste and plastics and can be made into new fibres over and over again. So not only does this fabric repurpose waste, but it is also turned into something infinitely recyclable.

How can you help?

Shop our swimwear collections made from ECONYL® yarn, so that you know your swimwear is repurposing something that would otherwise end up in landfill.

Manufacturing with from ECONYL® regenerated yarn reduces the global warming impact of nylon by up to 90% compared with the material from oil.

Made in London

We aim to produce everything from our London Studio, with our own team of expert manufacturers. This includes everything from sampling, to cutting, to sewing, to shipping. This means that we are able to reduce movement of goods and limit CO2 emissions, as well as being able to provide local jobs, work closely together as a team and ensure everyone has a great work environment.

Responsible Sourcing

We make sure that we work with suppliers who value sustainability as much as we do. Our team of designers have access to over 100 fabrics with different structures, produced either with recycled raw materials, bio-based raw materials sourced from renewable resources, or biodegradable raw materials. In addition to this, our use of an internal production process reduces environmental impact and allows us to continuously look at ways to improve.

How can you help?

When shopping, look for items made from recycled, bio-based or biodegradable fabrics, that are less harmful to produce and won’t end up in landfill for the next 200 years!

Did you know?

Non-biodegradable fabrics can take up to 200 years to decompose in landfill! With around 350,000 tonnes added each year, working towards a more circular industry is absolutely crucial.

Responsible Packaging

We consciously aim to minimise our use of raw materials across both packaging and in the studio. We have been reducing the amount of paper used in our offices, as well as choosing to provide minimal packaging materials with our orders. Our packaging is sustainably made and certified FSC, so that you can be sure it is made responsibly. Our packaging suppliers work in collaboration with One Tree Planted and every time that we place an order, they plant more trees than were used to manufacture the packaging. This allows us to use natural, biodegradable materials, whilst being safe in the knowledge that the forests are being replenished.

If you can re-use our packaging, then prolonging its life is the most sustainable thing to do. If not, then please make sure to recycle it, so that it can be regenerated into something new.

Reducing Water Consumption

Less Water

We monitor every single stage of our production’s cycle in order to reduce the use of water, energy, chemicals and waste. We also look for suppliers that are working to reduce their water usage, one of whom has proudly created a patented process known as Br4® Technology, which reduces consumption of water and energy by 20% compared to standard processes.

Cotton is one of the worst materials in terms of the amount of water needed to produce it. If buying cotton clothing, look for reassurance that the brand is working to reduce its water use.

Did you know?

The fashion industry currently uses enough water to quench the thirst of 110 million people for an entire year. In a world where not everyone has access to water, the least that we can do is reduce our usage.

Brands we believe in

We understand how difficult it can be to shop sustainably, so we created our Lab Sustain platform as a space where we can showcase a variety of sustainable, authentic and ethical brands. We want to introduce you to the brands that we work with and the brands that we believe in, who share our values and are striving to make a difference. Sustainable does not have to mean boring.
